We have set up a Hardship Fund to help our Members or would-be Members - But how could a Helping Hand help?
Imagine that Brian would like to join the The Fuel Co-op and save money but he is stuck with a supplier on a budget account which allows him to pay for his oil monthly but at a terribly high price - up to double the price that our Members pay.
A successful application to the Helping Hand will allow Brian to join The Fuel Co-op and pay for a delivery of oil up front. He'll be able to make repayments to The Helping Hand, lower than he would have paid to the Oil Supplier. His repayment will go back in to the fund to be used again by the Helping Hand.
Imagine that Mavis has had a nearly full tank of oil stolen. How will she replace that oil and even the tank?
A Helping Hand will help her get back on your feet so that she doesn't get cold. Simple repayments will help Mavis to manage her budget.
Applications to the Helping Hand will be confidential (unless waived by the member). Only those involved in processing applications will be involved. The general finances of the Helping Hand will be available for scrutiny in Annual Reports .
And How Can You Help A Helping Hand? Before A Helping Hand can help fellow members it needs to have some cash reserves.
